Featured Presentation

Fixing Page Life Expectancy

Speaker: Steve Hood

Summary: Starting with what Page Life Expectancy really means to query, server, and disk performance, we’ll get a firm understanding of what this counter means to you. It is just a counter and doesn’t specifically point to an issue with it being normal for many OLAP systems to have a low value. We’ll get into looking at other counters to measure the impact of PLE, queries to determine what is using your memory, and hot spots to look at to start raising this counter. The goal is to raise it the right way, be able to measure the results in query and disk performance, and improve the overall health of your servers. This is based on my blog post: http://simplesqlserver.com/2013/08/19/fixing-page-life-expectancy-ple/
